Ethiopia - Guji Hambella Tirtira Goyo - Natural

RM23.03 MYR

"Upon grinding, the aroma presents strawberry, peach, and bergamot. On the palate, sweet strawberry and peach lead, followed by blueberry, bergamot, and subtle gardenia florals. The body is full, with a sweet and delicate finish."

Tirtira Goyo is a coffee-growing community within Hambella Wamena, in Ethiopia’s Guji highlands. Coffee production here is rooted in smallholder agriculture and the farming traditions of local Oromo communities. Individual plots contribute to a wider landscape of coffee, shade trees and other crops. The Tirtira Goyo name connects this natural selection to that local growing environment.

Hambella’s mountainous terrain brings cool growing conditions and considerable variation in elevation. Coffee in the area is cultivated within forest and semi-forest environments, where native canopies shelter the plants. Shade trees also contribute organic matter and help protect the soil. These conditions make the surrounding vegetation an important part of the agricultural landscape.

This selection is identified as Ethiopian Heirloom, a broad designation for locally cultivated Arabica material. Ethiopia’s coffee heritage includes diverse regional landraces and agricultural selections. Heirloom therefore describes a wider genetic background rather than one specific cultivar. Its use here reflects the diversity associated with traditional Ethiopian coffee cultivation.

Natural processing dries the coffee inside the whole cherry. The skin, pulp and mucilage remain around the seed throughout this stage. Managing moisture loss and keeping the fruit drying evenly are central to the preparation. Once dry, the outer fruit layers are removed during milling to release the green coffee.

Tirtira Goyo brings together a defined Hambella origin, Ethiopian heirloom material and whole-cherry preparation. Its identity follows the connection between local cultivation and the handling of harvested fruit. Natural processing makes drying an especially important part of that journey. The finished selection offers an expression of Guji grounded in its growing community and preparation.
