Costa Rica - Finca San Martin by Puente Micromill - Geisha Washed (CoE 2024 #8 Farm)

RM37.50 MYR

"Upon grinding, the fragrance offers jasmine, lemon custard, and bergamot. On tasting, the cup reveals a layered harmony of jasmine, creamy lemon custard, and bergamot, lifted by white peach and yuzu brightness. The finish is clean and elegant."

The San Martin Farm, located at 1,800 meters above sea level in Costa Rica, is a family-run estate now managed by Lisbeth Venegas and her two daughters, Natalia and Amelia Rivera. The farm is part of a proud legacy established by the late Rodolfo Rivera, who passed away on February 13, 2024. Rodolfo was a passionate coffee grower who dedicated his life to nurturing the land and producing high-quality coffee. His family continues his work with care and devotion, honoring his memory through the ongoing stewardship of San Martin Farm.

Rodolfo Rivera was also one of six visionary producers who came together to launch a Micro Mill, aiming to add value to their coffee by processing it themselves. This step allowed them to have greater control over quality and pricing, and to build long-term partnerships with reputable buyers. The Micro Mill initiative marked a turning point in the region’s specialty coffee development and helped elevate the standard for ethical and sustainable coffee practices.
In 2013, San Martin Farm began planting Geisha coffee using carefully selected seeds. Known for its exceptional flavor and complexity, Geisha is a rare and highly prized variety, especially when cultivated in ideal conditions like those at San Martin. The combination of high altitude, rich soil, and cool climate contributes to the farm’s ability to produce coffees with clarity, florality, and elegant acidity.

The coffee we feature from San Martin Farm is a washed-process Geisha—a rarity in Costa Rica, where most Geisha coffees are processed as natural or honey. During harvest, laborers from Nicaragua and Panama are hired to help pick the ripe cherries. The Rivera family is directly involved in transporting the fruit to the mill for depulping, washing, and drying.
