The Duwencho G/H/D Bunna Amrach union, established in early 2021, is a collective of 116 coffee farmers in Dawancho kebele, Arbegona woreda, in the ultra-high-altitude Arbe Guna zone of Ethiopia’s Sidama region. Situated at an average altitude of 2,300 meters, this region is ideal for cultivating the 74110 coffee variety, grown organically to yield a distinctive, aromatic profile.

Founded by seasoned coffee supplier Mulugeta Muntasha, who brings 17 years of expertise and collaboration with over 100 local farmers, the union produces about 60 tons of natural-processed coffee annually. This coffee is distributed to trading hubs in Addis Ababa and Hawassa, with recent Ethiopian regulatory changes allowing traders to export coffee directly, bypassing the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX). This shift enables Duwencho to bring its unique microlots to the global market, showcasing Ethiopia's coffee diversity beyond Yirgacheffe, Guji, and Sidama.

During harvest, cherries are hand-picked and sorted by color at the washing station. Farmers receive premium payments for delivering pre-sorted cherries. The selected cherries are dried unwashed on raised African beds, avoiding any contact with water. The drying process takes up to 21 days to achieve the desired moisture level, after which the cherries rest for an additional two weeks before being dehulled. They are then mechanically sorted with optical sorters and size-graded to ensure uniform density.

This particular lot is an underscreen selection, featuring small beans between screen sizes 9 and 12, below the usual SCA standard. Only 30 kg of this special selection is available, highlighting its rarity and exclusive quality.
