"Upon grinding, vibrant aromas of mulberry, dark berries, and soft florals emerge from the cup. On the palate, concentrated blackcurrant and grape juice sweetness unfold with a silky, syrupy texture, carrying a gentle wine-like vibrancy through the mid-palate. As it cools, delicate floral tones become more pronounced, leading to a long, elegant finish with lingering berry sweetness."
El Dorado Farm was built with long-term sustainability in mind. Juan Peña and his family integrate organic farming principles, respect local agricultural traditions, and collaborate closely with surrounding coffee-growing communities. The farm follows biodynamic and ecological cultivation concepts, prioritizing soil vitality and ecosystem balance. They provide stable employment and housing for workers, and actively share knowledge with neighboring farmers.
El Dorado Farm is locateda in Loja Province in southern Ecuador, nestled along the slopes of the Andes mountain range. The farm was established in 2017 by Juan Peña and his two sons, with a clear vision: to unlock Ecuador’s potential in high-end specialty coffee through organic cultivation and meticulous processing.
In just a few years, El Dorado has built a strong reputation. Their Green Tip Gesha placed 13th in Ecuador COE 2021 (88.52), 4th in COE 2022 (89.10), and achieved 3rd place in the 2023 Ecuador national competition (89.75). These results confirm the farm’s consistent quality and its rising position among Ecuador’s most respected producers.
Loja is known for its high elevations, cool Andean climate, and Pacific-influenced.
The main variety of this lot is Wush Wush, originally linked to Ethiopian genetic lineage. Wush Wush is known for intense aromatic expression, pronounced fruit-forward character, elegant acidity structure & floral complexity.
Cherries are selectively handpicked at peak ripeness and undergo a carefully designed extra fermentation: sealed tanks regulate oxygen exposure, extended fermentation times coax out concentrated berry and floral nuances, and temperatures and microbial activity are monitored throughout. After drying to around 10–11 % moisture and resting in parchment, the beans are milled and prepared for export. The Peñas’ commitment to organic practices, worker welfare and community engagement, combined with this meticulous processing, results in a coffee that showcases exceptional sweetness, depth and clarity.
