"Upon grounding, the aroma features a blend of lemon, peach, and red apple. The first sip reveals the lively flavors of lemon green tea and peach, complemented by the crisp, sweet taste of red apple. The guava finish adds a tropical depth, delivering a balanced and refreshing profile."
Arbegona village in Sidama has been high quality coffee. Most of our coffee this year has been coming from Duwencho G/H/D Arbegona and we do not want to miss out the opportunity to bring the highly sought after coffee from roasters around the world. Rumudamo, a well known washing station from Ethiopia has made its name in the 2020 or the inaugral Cup of Excellence program in Ethiopia.
Rumudamo first gained international acclaim during the inaugural Cup of Excellence program in Ethiopia in 2020, where it earned remarkable accolades—2nd place for their washed coffee, scoring an impressive 90.89, and 3rd place for their natural coffee. This recognition solidified Rumudamo’s reputation as one of Ethiopia's premier coffee producers.
Rumudamo Trading PLC, established in 2015 by seven shareholders, is the driving force behind the Rumudamo washing station. Operating under the same group as Daye Bensa, Rumudamo is situated on an 88-hectare farm, where they collaborate with 35 outgrowers to oversee the coffee plantation. The farm is located at one of the highest elevations in Ethiopia's coffee-growing regions, ranging from 2,200 to 2,350 meters above sea level, providing ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality coffee.
At Rumudamo, the 74112 coffee variety is extensively planted to create their outstanding washed coffee lots. All coffee produced at the plantation is processed as washed coffee, ensuring consistency and quality. For their natural coffee offerings, cherries are sourced from local farmers outside the plantation.
During the harvest, cherries are hand-picked with great care, selecting only those at peak ripeness. The cherries are then soaked in water to separate low-density cherries from those with optimal density, with floaters being removed. The selected cherries are depulped on the same day and fermented for 72 hours before being washed to remove mucilage. The washed parchment is then transferred to African raised beds for sun drying, a process that takes 10 to 12 days, ensuring the beans reach the perfect moisture level.
Asefa Dukamo, a key figure in Rumudamo’s day-to-day operations, plays a vital role in maintaining strict quality control throughout the harvest and processing stages, ensuring that each batch of coffee meets the highest standards.
