RM40.00 MYR

This is our first time we bought coffee from the Santa Rosa 1900 micro mill. This farm is a famed farm by Square Mile roaster from the UK and La Cabra from Denmark. We were lucky enough to grab this coffee from Finca Macho, Santa Rosa 1900 of the ET-47 variety. A rare variety of Ethiopian Heritage.

Santa Rosa is a micro mill  named for its location that sits at 1900 masl in the mountainous Tarrazu region of Costa rica. The mill process coffee from various farm which is owned by the Naranjo family. The main main behind all the action is Efrain Macho. This specific coffee comes from Finca Macho.

Snr Efrain has been farming coffee all his life, now his fourth son Herbeth is working closely with him in handling the operation. Snr Efrain owns a lot of the micro farms which plants Red Catuais, Geisha, and plenty other variety. Most of the farm is located near to the Santa Rosa micromill.

The ET-47 is a variety which originates from Ethiopia. Like all coffee, its has a long coffee of Ethiopian Origion. This ET 47 variety has been classified by the Costa Rican Research institutes as an isolated Ethiopian hierloom varietals and it is available to farmers from the seed bank. This particular coffee grows well at high altitude. The seed is simillar to the Ethiopian hierloom and it is said that when grown in Costa Rica, it has a large amount of mucilage on the cherry. With that, it is best to process this variety as natural or honey process.

What we have here is a honey processed coffee. As the ET 47 is rich mucilage, the coffee is dried together with the mucilage on the raised African beds. This process did enhanced the sweetnes and body of the cup. With the varietal characteristic still shine with a fresh and herbal edge to the cup.

The dry aroma is blueberry, grape, white peach, bergamot and floral aroma. At first sip, strawberry, blueberry, peach and elegance in your mouth. Floral fragrance, with orange peel and longan nectar aftertaste, delicate and sweet. A very different cup of coffee.
