Colombia La Esperanza - Las Mariposas Washed
La Esperanza specialise in the production of specialty coffee varietals. What we have here is the infamous cattura known as the Las Mariposas, specially planted at their Potosi farm which is located in the Valle de Cauca.
La Esperanza focus a lot on their competition grade coffee and their coffee has been producing great results in the Specialty Coffee Industry. Asides from that, the Las Mariposas are well known for great results and its average cup score is above 86 pts (graded by the Farm).
This coffee is processed as Full Washed, similar to the Kenyan style processing whereby the parchement is fermented for 72 hours (with mucilage before it its washed and dry mechanically for 5 to 7 days. The coffee is stored for 3 months before it is being ship for export. This is to stabilize and reduce the astrigency of freshness.
We did a roast on this coffee at a medium roast. The aroma of the coffee upon grounding produce an orange peel and caramel. At the first sip, the coffee contains a pleasurable citrusy like notes with the closure of caramel, vanilla (herby) and chocolate. The body of the coffee is densed. The cup is rounded.
It is well suited brew under intense pressure. We highly recommend this beans for the espresso consumption
