Its hard to decide when the coffee is good for both for Filter or for Espresso. What we have here it’s the winner of Taste of Harvest (No #1 )for the 2019. There were various consideration for this top coffee to be placed here on the espresso selection. By far the evaluation as espresso did not dissapoint and can be considered as on par with the evaluation over the cupping bowl.

This coffee comes from Oboleyan Coffee Export. Oboleyan means “brothers” in the Oromo language. The company was formed by 5 brothers. Tariku Edema, Wendimu Edema, Demelash Edema, Wendafrashe Adema and Anteneh Edema. The whole operation is led by Tariku. The processing and farm management is led by Wendimu and Demelash. Wendafrash handles export while Anteneh the youngest is incharge of warehousing and storage.

This coffee comes from Tebe Burka washing station which is located in the Uraga woreda, part of Guju. The washing station is owned by Oboleyan brothers. This coffee lot is collected from 300 smallholders that live in the village of Tebe Burka. Of the farmers own less than 3 hectares of land for the production of this coffee and sits at and altitude of 2000 masl and 2200 masl.

Apart from this coffee from the Tebe Burka washing station, Oboleyan has been producing outstanding coffee around Guji such as the Sakicha that we had last year and Banko Michicha.

This coffee is process as natural. With strict quality control set by the brothers, farmers are paid at a premium for its ripe cherries. Upon selection, the coffee is placed inside a tank, floaters and debris is removed and only coffee that sits at the bottom is selected. The cherries is then placed on the African raised beds for 2 to 3 week until it reaches the right moisture level. The cherry is then dehulled and rested for 5 weeks before it is packed for export.

Upon grounding, the coffee Very jammy with gapes with fruity pinkfruits aroma. At first sip, the taste is composed of grape, blueberry jam and peach. The taste is than followed by mango and bergamot flavor with juicy sweetnes and solid flavour.
