Finca Los Rodriguez are among top producers from Bolivia. It has many farms and what we have here is a coffee from its El Fuerte farm. El Fuerte has been established for more than 20 years and first started to experiment in developing coffee in the Samaipata region as it has the characteristic in producing top quality coffee (good soil and high altitude). 20 years ago this location sees very little coffee production. In collaboration with Agricafe (from the Rodriguez Brothers with specialized agronomist) they decided to choose the Agua Rica to set up the farm. Initially various varietal were selected such as red bourbon, yellow and red caturra. However, in order to produce great coffee from the bourbon or caturra varietal, direct sunlight on the coffee tree has an impact towards the flavour. Somehow, direct sunlight expedite the ripeness of the coffee. With not so many trees that originally grew in the farm to shade the caturra and bourbon, the result was not so great.

However, Java varietal has little needs for shade for it to shine as at high altitude, the temperature is always low which plays a very important role in producing great java varietal plant. This coffee is process as natural. However, it is fermented for at least 20 hours in a water tank before it is dried on African raised beds for 1 night and dried mechanically for 39 hours.

This coffee is roasted light for a natural coffee, when it is medium roasted, the chocolate is full. However we found that when roasted as light, upon grounding the coffee has  an aroma of strawberries, blueberries, and peaches. At first sip the prominent notes are peach and juiciness is towards grapes and its has a elegant fragrance. There are slight winey due to the fermentation process. The coffee is sweet and charming.
