CENFROCAFE was founded back in 1999 with 220 small scale farmers in eleven community based association. After 21 years of operation, there are nearly 3000 farmer members spanning across 12 departments of the lush Cajamarca region.

CENFROCAFE provide technical assistance as well as quality control training for farmers, economic assistance and leadership training to young farmers of the future. Apart from commercial or economic goal, CENFROCAFE aim to improve the quality of life of a community through coffee. Without this kind of assistance and strong organization, local farmers will be left each to his/her own device to develop its best practice for healthy field, production yield or commercial sale of their coffee.

Result of the cooperative are impressive. Apart from high yield in production, farmers and producers of the cooperative are often show in the top finalist in national and international coffee quality competition. What we have here is from the finalist of the Peru 2019 COE producer, ranked at #21, Jose Martin Vega Segovia was a farmer of CENFROCAFE. He was amongst the earlier members of the cooperative. In 2013, Jose Martin purchased the parcel that is owned by CENFROCAFE. From there he replanted new trees of the H1 Centroamericano variety which is ideal for high altitude. The farm sits at 1750 masl. Jose Martin closely keep tracks of all the record of the whole process. From farming, soil activity, harvesting and processing and post processing to manage quality issues. With the data available, he was able to tweak and improve the production and the quality of its coffee year by year.

Jose Martin still works closely with CENFROCAFE particularly on the export of its coffee worldwide.

What we have here is a natural processed coffee which has been controlled in terms of production. Upon grounding the coffee, it has a dry aroma of mango, pineapple, strawberry and peach. The brew has a fragrant of strawberry jam. At first sip, peach, tropical fruit flavour and followed by candied orange with elegant rose aroma ended with raisin notes in the end section. The coffee is sweet. Very rich with flavour and layered in taste.
